Longest Serving Fishing Guide in South East Queensland

Brad Smith FishingG’day Brad Smith here or “Smithy” as I am best known in the industry. For over 20 years I have been working as a full time professional fishing guide, which makes me South East Queensland’s and Northern New South Wales’ longest serving guide.

My introduction to fishing as with most anglers started at a very young age and being born and bred in the local area with it’s abundance of waterways provided me the perfect foundation for learning the acquired angling skills that I have obtained to this day.

The journey through the fishing industry has provided me with opportunities that include recreational and commercial fishing activities right through to media presentations including television, radio, and journalism careers. Another natural progression in my career has been the opportunity to be one of the pioneers in the development of both angling equipment and advanced techniques learnt by spending a lifetime on the water.

Above all the commitments that I have in this industry my overriding passion has always been to pass on my specialist experience to all anglers and teaching people of all ages and angling abilities the correct techniques required to catch all of our local estuary species on a variety of different lures is my trademark.

The major reason why my charter operation is so unique and has gained such a high reputation is that there are no other charter operators that GUARANTEE YOU WILL CATCH FISH ON LURES OR YOU DON’T PAY while once again learning the techniques on how to do so.

I am still as excited as I was in the beginning of my charter operation to share a day on the water with you.

Clint Ansell

ClintHi, my name’s Clint and I’ve been living on and fishing the pristine
rivers of the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales for over 15 years.
Brad Smith or ‘Smithy’ has been my expert mentor over the years, and has passed on to me the priceless knowledge of all our local fishing hotspots and modern techniques, ensuring I provide a great service to clients on my boat.

A typical day out with me might start by simply pumping some live Yabbies, or throwing a cast net for live bait,
and teaching you the correct rigging and proper bait presentation. As the day progresses we usually progress to more advanced methods involving lure technology.

I love nothing more than educating all my clients including families with kids on how to catch a variety of different fish species with fresh bait or by trolling and casting lures.

From beginners to experienced anglers I look forward to sharing my knowledge and being your guide for the day!

Being a born and bred local lad with an ancestry of local anglers is why I developed my passion for the sport of fishing at such a young age.

Countless days and nights spent on the water with my father and grandfather has laid the perfect foundation for me to learn about the right bait and lures required to catch all the different varieties of estuary fish species in our local area.

My life long obsession with being on the water and continually improving my skills and experience are the driving reasons behind my desire to always evolve with this great sport.

To be recognised for these skills and chosen by Smithy to become a part of his operation is one the pinnacles of my career and I am very proud of the opportunity to both share my knowledge and guarantee that you catch fish during a day on the water with me.
