Australian Bass

AUSTRALIAN BASS (macquaria novemaculeata) spend most of their life in freshwater in the far upper catchment areas of our local rivers and creeks but rely on reaching brackish or saline tidal waters in order to spawn.

This species is a highly sought after sportfish which can be confirmed by the large number of tournaments on the angling calendar based around catching them.

The reason for this is is that they are a sensational fighter that will respond to a wide array of lures and fly with a wide and varied range of angling techniques. The other appealing attraction to the pursuit of this species is the spectacular scenery of the far upper reaches of local waterways that this fish calls home.
